Building Sustainable Futures for Children in State Care in Jamaica

CHEW Foundation exists to help children in Jamaica’s state care system build healthier, more educated, and financially secure futures through sustainable long-term support.

At the center of CHEW’s model is a carefully managed investment portfolio initiative designed to create enduring funding for programs that support children throughout childhood, adolescence, and the transition into adulthood. Rather than relying solely on short-term fundraising cycles, CHEW focuses on building sustainable financial structures that can generate long-term impact over time.

Through strategic partnerships, disciplined stewardship, and measurable implementation, CHEW invests in three interconnected areas that shape a child’s future: health, education, and economic empowerment.

Our goal is not simply to provide temporary assistance, but to help create stable pathways toward independence, resilience, opportunity, and hope for the children we serve.

Our Core Pillars

Health

CHEW supports initiatives that improve physical health, emotional wellbeing, therapeutic care, and trauma-informed support systems that strengthen resilience and healing.

Education

CHEW invests in academic continuity, mentorship, literacy development, financial education, tertiary pathways, and personal development opportunities that expand long-term potential.

Wealth

CHEW’s investment portfolio model is designed to support long-term financial sustainability while helping young people develop financial literacy, economic independence, and pathways toward stable futures.

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up with stability, encouragement, and hope for the future.

Across Jamaica, thousands of children enter the state care system after experiencing neglect, abuse, abandonment, displacement, or family instability. While care systems provide critical protection, many young people continue to face emotional, educational, and economic challenges that extend far beyond childhood.

CHEW Foundation  was created in response to that reality.

The Foundation exists to build sustainable systems that support children not only during moments of immediate need, but throughout their journey toward adulthood. Central to this mission is CHEW’s long-term investment portfolio strategy, which is designed to provide consistent funding for programs that strengthen emotional wellbeing, educational opportunity, financial literacy, life skills, mentorship, and long-term independence.

CHEW combines disciplined financial stewardship with practical community implementation. By building portfolio-supported funding structures alongside strategic partnerships, the Foundation aims to create support systems that can grow sustainably and continue serving children for generations.

Our belief is simple: long-term problems require long-term solutions.

Why Chew's Long Term Model Matters

Children in care often face interrupted access to healthcare, mental wellness services, and emotional support systems. CHEW works to expand access to physical healthcare, trauma-informed support, wellness initiatives, and therapeutic services that strengthen emotional resilience and overall wellbeing.

Education creates possibility. We support academic continuity, homework assistance, literacy development, mentorship, financial literacy education, and pathways into tertiary education and skills training so children can pursue independent futures with confidence.

Many young people leaving state care face economic instability and limited support structures. CHEW is building long-term investment models and financial empowerment initiatives that create pathways toward stability, independence, and generational opportunity.

CHEW’s model is intentionally designed around disciplined portfolio management and strategic partnerships so programs can grow sustainably over time and reduce dependence on continuous fundraising cycles.

We are committed to measurable outcomes, transparent governance, annual reporting, and clear impact tracking to ensure resources create meaningful and lasting change.

Quick Facts

Childrens Health Education & Wealth

CHEW Foundation’s initial objective is to support 1,000 children in Jamaica’s state care system over the next 24 to 36 months through sustainable, portfolio-funded programs focused on health, education, emotional wellbeing, and economic empowerment.

The Foundation was established by Donovan Lewis, a Caribbean entrepreneur and philanthropist whose vision centers on creating sustainable opportunities for vulnerable children through long-term financial stewardship and strategic investment.

CHEW’s programs focus on financial literacy, educational support, therapeutic services, health and wellness initiatives, life-skills development, mentorship, and pathways toward tertiary education and independent adulthood.

Our Story

CHEW Foundation was born from a simple belief: true success is measured not only by personal achievement, but by the opportunities created for others.

After decades of business leadership and entrepreneurship, Donovan Lewis developed a philosophy rooted in discipline, long-term thinking, responsible stewardship, and investing in people. Over time, that philosophy evolved into a larger vision — applying the same principles used to build sustainable businesses and financial resilience toward helping transform the lives of children in Jamaica’s state care system.

CHEW was established to bring that vision into action.

The Foundation’s long-term objective is to create sustainable structures that support children throughout their transition into adulthood by strengthening emotional wellbeing, education, financial capability, life skills, and future opportunity.

Through strategic partnerships, disciplined governance, and portfolio-driven funding, CHEW aims to build systems that create lasting and measurable impact for generations to come.
